RN Psychotherapist

Counselling / Psychology / Mental Health

I’m a Registered Nurse psychotherapist and I’ve been promoting relationship and emotional fitness for over 35 years. I stumbled upon psychology as a young Mom, and I fell in love with it! I use Solution Focused BRIEF Therapy in my work with couples and individuals. My work is further informed by training in the Bader-Pearson Developmental Model of Couples, Positive Psychology, Couples and Singles Coach Certification from the Relationship Coaching Institute. I am also a certified 7 Principles trainer through the Gottman Institute and follow Esther Perel, Kristen Neff, Byron Katie, Bruce Lipton and spiritual teachers including Esther Hicks, Wayne Dyer and Ekhart Tolle.

In addition to private practice, I’ve worked in a variety of settings including a mental health day program, a specialized Dialectical Behavioral Therapy team (mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness) and Algonquin College. I also worked for the non-profit, Serenity Renewal for Families, serving those affected by addiction as both a psychotherapist and Director of Counselling. Why I Care

I'm on a mission to help people feel better more of the time, and having loving relationships- with themselves and others.

I’ve been married to my sweetheart Dave for 38 years and we’re having a blast!  But it wasn’t always this way. In the early days we didn't have a clue about relationship and emotional fitness.  Although we loved each other, we kept getting stuck in power struggles, and felt hurt and disconnected and blamed each other. We even thought about calling it quits.  We each thought that if only the other got their act together, we'd be fine!

In my quest to feel better about myself and improve our relationship, I dove into the field of psychology and was surprised to learn that I could feel better by changing the way I thought about things. It was a complete game changer! It had such a positive impact on me and my relationship with Dave that I just had to share what I learned with anyone who was interested.  I eveventually became an RN Psychotherapist and it's an absolute delight to help see clients avoid unnecessary drama and deliberately create the lives they desire.

I'm so thankful that Dave and I  learned what it truly means to love, and shudder to think that we almost lost it all.  In our case it was the right decision to stay together and the rewards have been priceless. We've transformed our relationship and now bring out the best in each other.

Dave and I have 3 sons, a daughter in law, twin grandchildren and a large extended family who we love spending time with.  I enjoy yoga, pickleball, playing in the flower garden, dancing, movies, anything to do with personal development  and discovering plant based, gluten free recipes!
